At Ampaire, we talk a lot about powering a new generation of aircraft with electricity, but in an important sense these revolutionary aircraft will be powered by the talents of brilliant, visionary engineers.

With that in mind, I’m immensely pleased to announce our appointment of Dr. Ed Lovelace as Chief Technology Officer.

Ed has pioneered efficient, innovative electric power technologies for both air and ground transportation, focusing in recent years on new product development for commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses and also eVTOL aircraft.

Ampaire builds on the experience of the automotive industry with hybrid designs. As Chief Technology Officer at XL Hybrids, Ed led the development of hybrid-electric upgrade options for a range of commercial vehicles from Ford and General Motors.

XL created cost-saving, emission-reducing trucks and buses for major fleet users — Coca-Cola and FedEx among them. The XL Hybrids model is highly pertinent to Ampaire’s focus on regional airline and charter fleets.

Ed holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from MIT and has held leading engineering positions at Power Corporation, SatCon Technology Corporation and most recently Boeing’s Aurora Flight Sciences, a leader in autonomous eVTOL aircraft.

Ed will lead an outstanding — and rapidly growing — engineering team here. Ampaire has become a magnet for talent in aerospace and electric power systems. We have great opportunities for engineers who want to see their products fly quickly and start to make a difference in our environment and economy.

Welcome, aboard, Ed!
